JULY 4TH IS COMING SOON

PLEASE REMEMBER-FIREWORKS AND DISCHARGING OF FIREARMS ARE ILLEGAL IN THE CITY OF HOUSTON. Bellaire West will have officers patrolling. Tickets will be issued, fireworks confiscated and on duty HPD officers will be called in to assist, if necessary, to make arrests. Let’s all respect one another and our neighbors’ property.

BELLAIRE WEST NOW BEING PATROLLED BY CONSTABLES

We now have constable patrol in Bellaire West. The constables will patrol at random times of the day and night on random days. The purpose of this is to not alert the criminals of when they might expect to encounter the patrolmen. They will be issuing tickets, making arrests, and notifying the city of any city ordinance violations they have cited. This would include improperly parked vehicles and vehicles with expired licenses and inspection stickers. If you know of a problem area that should be monitored, please notify Jackie Harrison or Larry Greer so that this information may be passed on to the patrolling constables.

POOL SAFETY & SECURITY

Security cameras will be installed at the pool and park area. The cameras will be recorded & can be monitored in real time by the constable, pool management and Bellaire West Board members. More information will be posted at the pool once the installation is complete. We will also ask the Bellairewest.org website editor to post information about the security camera project. This is for the safety of the swimmers and hopefully will reduce vandalism & undesirable, illegal activity in the park area. Please be aware that by entering the pool and park area your activity will be recorded and possibly monitored, by that entry into the area you are acknowledging permission to be recorded and video monitored. No audio recording is being implemented.

HELP PREVENT CRIME IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

We continue to encourage all residents to participate in the Neighbors on Watch Program. If we see anything suspicious, witness a crime in progress, observe truancy, etc. call the homeowner or authorities as appropriate. See phone numbers on the enclosed phone list. It has been suggested that each of us make sure a neighbor has an emergency phone number as well as our cell or work number in case of Fire or Other Emergencies at our home when we are not there. Let’s really be NEIGHBORS LOOKING OUT FOR NEIGHBORS!!! The West Side Station Non Emergency Number is 281 584-4700. Be sure to request an alert slip be issued when reporting a non emergency that should be investigated. This will assure a response as soon as there is a police officer available to respond. This is also the number to call when reporting repeated speeding, running of stop signs, etc. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY Houston Police Department THAT NO MATTER HOW MINOR THE THEFT, CRIME, SUSPICIOUS SOLICITORS OR OTHER PERSONS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD MIGHT BE, IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE REPORTED. This is the only way the police have to know when, where and what sorts of crimes are being committed in the neighborhood. If you observe drug or other illegal activity, call 911 while it is occurring. You can ask to remain anonymous. We cannot prevent crime if we do not report it immediately.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

We will participate in the National Night out Program in August. Everyone is encouraged to be involved. This is the time to turn your porch lights on, sit outside and meet or visit with your neighbors. It is very important that you know your neighbors and make sure at least one of them has emergency numbers for you in case of an emergency when you are not at home. The more you know about your neighbors, the safer your family and our community will be. This is a nationwide effort to keep our communities safe. Please join us. Where and when block captains will serve refreshments and distribute information will be announced later.

DEED RESTRICTION ENFORCEMENT

All homeowners are urged to maintain their homes and property in accordance with our deed restrictions. Keeping our community well maintained is essential to keeping the value of our property as high as possible. Genesis Community Management drives through the subdivision each month and sends letters to advise the homeowner of any violations they observe. If the homeowner does not correct the violation or contact Genesis, three letters are sent. After the third letter, a certified letter is sent which is paid for by Bellaire West homeowners. The cost of the certified letter is then billed back to the homeowner. If there is still no response after the certified letter has been sent, the problem is turned over to the legal department for their assistance in curing the violation. All homeowners are strongly encouraged to work with Genesis so that both you and the subdivision are spared the cost of having to involve the legal department. The money we pay each year for maintenance fees could be put to much better use if we all try to avoid unnecessary costs to the subdivision to enforce deed restrictions. All of the legal costs are, of course, billed back to the homeowner. Ignoring letters sent to you by Genesis could become very costly. Please work with Genesis to correct violations ASAP.

· If you receive a letter and are unable to make the repairs/improvements within 30 days, please contact Brent Lazarus or Charlie Floto at 713 953-0808. They will work with you to try to make sure you are allowed the time required before issuing other letters and incurring charges to you.

· If your home needs paint, please go to Home Depot on Beltway 8, Lowe’s on Westheimer, or Sherwin Williams on Bissonnet to see the paint colors that are approved. They should be available at the desk at the paint department. Ask to see the book of approved paint colors for Bellaire West. We have recently checked, and they are available at all 3 locations.

· Before painting or making any kind of structural changes or additions to your home, including back yard storage buildings, you should complete an Architectural Control Form which is available from Genesis, or on their website.

· A copy of Bellaire West Deed Restrictions is available on Genesis Website, or by calling and requesting a copy if you do not have access to the web.

· Please make sure your home, lawn and MAILBOX are in good repair. This includes the lack of grass in your front yard. The appearance of your home affects the value of your neighbors’ homes as well as you own.

· When you prune your trees, please make sure the branches are fully pruned, not left as unsightly stubs on the trunk. All tree stumps should be cut level to the ground.

· ALL HOMES SHOULD HAVE HOUSE NUMBERS DISPLAYED ON THE FRONT OT THEIR HOME OR MAILBOX. This is a city ordinance, as well as a Bellaire West deed restriction.

MAINTENANCE FEES MUST BE PAID EACH YEAR. If these fees are not paid, late charges will be assessed and, as above, legal will become involved in collection. Failure to pay maintenance fees could result in a

Lien being placed on your home, or even foreclosure. If you need to work out a payment plan to catch

up on back fees, Contact Genesis. 713 953-0808 Genesis Website: www.genesiscommunity.com

To access Genesis Website: The homeowner must register on line. The Registration Code shown on your annual maintenance invoice is required to register. Just follow the on line instructions.

GENERAL MEETING WILL BE HELD JULY 12

· The 2007 Summer General Meeting will be held on the 2nd Thursday in July at 7PM at the community center. All homeowners are encouraged to attend the meeting. Signs will be posted at the subdivision entrances the week of the meeting. Please come and hear our progress and help us know what issues need to be addressed to make your life in Bellaire West more pleasant and comfortable. WE HAVE THE CONSTABLE TENTAVILY SCHEDULED TO SPEAK AT THIS MEETING. Any board member will be able to confirm that he will be speaking at the meeting by the first week in July.

If you have any suggestions as to subjects you would like to see discussed, or information you would like to have provided, please contact Jackie Harrison or Larry Greer. (Phone numbers on insert of newsletter)\

Anyone wishing to attend other community meetings which address many of the issues that concern Bellaire West residents, see Meeting Times and places on the Map of Bellaire West, center insert of this newsletter.

COMMUNITY CENTER RENOVATION PLANS

The Community Center is in serious need of renovation. We are in hopes of being able to remodel the existing building to make the structural repairs needed, as well as to enlarge the main meeting room and incorporate the unusable spaces into space that can be more efficiently utilized. We are in the beginning stages of determining what these renovations will cost. Hopefully the cost will be much less than that of building a new building, which was originally planned by previous boards

Alief City Council Cleanup Needs your Help
