Happy New Year!!!
Here is wishing everyone a prosperous, healthy, and happy new year. The newly elected board of directors
looks forward to working with Bellaire West residents to promote a well
maintained, safe community with well kept amenities such as the community
center, park and pool, all to keep the value of our homes as high as possible
and provide family entertainment for our residents. We have plans for several community events during the coming
year. Everyone is encouraged to
participate and enjoy the festivities, as well as take advantage of the
opportunity to get to know their neighbors. You are always welcome to volunteer to help at any of these
events. It is fun, the kids are delightful, and it is a real treat to meet new

GENERAL MEETING HELD JANUARY 11
The 2007 General Meeting was held on January 11 for the
primary purpose of electing BWCIA board of directors. There was an excellent turnout for the meeting. There were a total of 310 ballots cast
either in person or by proxy. All
homeowners were mailed a letter showing the results of the ballot tally.
The main concerns expressed by homeowners attending the
meeting were:
It was discussed that the community center is in serious
need of repairs, both inside and out.
A preliminary committee has been formed to find contractors to evaluate
the condition of the building, make recommendations, and bid on work to be
done.
Anyone wishing to attend community meetings
which address some of these issues, see Meeting Times and places on the Map of

The City has a new law in effect, to have graffiti
removed. If it is reported to
the City, the property owner has up to ten days to have the graffiti removed
before receiving a fine. It is in
the best interest of all to call the police first, take a picture if possible
and promptly cover the graffiti. The gang force needs the information.
Gang graffiti can be reported to the general police
dispatch 713-222-3131 and to the City hot line # 311.
You may also contact Officer Cindy Purl at 281 584-4894..
If you call the general police dispatch and have a
suspect, witness or evidence, you need to request an officer to come out to
make a report and be prepared to press charges. If there is no suspect, witness or evidence, you still
should call in (request to remain anonymous) the graffiti/tagging problem and
location. It will filter through to the gang task force, so they can monitor
the areas and identify the gangs.
If you see graffiti in progress call 911 but do not
intervene.
If you need help with paint and supplies, would like to request to have someone from the City to come and paint your area, or if you have one of the “hot spots” that are constantly being hit, the homeowner must call and request help from Neighborhood Protection at 713-218-5770. You will also receive and need to sign an “abatement” form.
If you have a problem
with graffiti on your property, consider planting shrubs such as Oleander along
the Area being abused. There will
no longer be an empty art pallet for the graffiti artists.

HELP PREVENT CRIME IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
The idea is that each of us makes sure we meet the neighbors whose homes we can see from our home. If we see anything suspicious, witness a crime in progress, observe truancy, etc. call the homeowner or authorities as appropriate. See phone numbers on the enclosed phone list.
It has been suggested that each of us make sure a neighbor has an emergency phone number as well as our cell or work number in case of Fire or Other Emergencies at our home when we are not there. Let’s really be NEIGHBORS LOOKING OUT FOR NEIGHBORS!!!
If we become alert and
responsible, the crime in the neighborhood could be substantially reduced. It takes the whole community to make
this work effectively for everyone.
Together, we CAN make a difference.
The West Side Station Non
Emergency Number is 281
584-4700. Be sure to
request an alert slip be issued when reporting a non emergency that
should be investigated. This will
assure a response as soon as there is a police officer available to
respond. This is also
the number to call when reporting repeated speeding, running of stop signs,
etc.
Following are the results of the two patrol officers we hired over the New Year Holiday to control fireworks.
